Road Trip Essentials

My family and I recently drove 22 long hours to Florida for our winter vacation! I dread long road trips, so I made sure to prepare myself for our three day journey down south. I found many important essentials to keep entertained and comfy throughout the long drive, so stay tuned for my 10 necessities to make any road trip better!

Blanket– I bring my fuzzy blanket everywhere, including long road trips. Blankets never fail to keep me warm and cozy, so bringing it on my trip was an essential. It kept me super comfortable all drive, making time go faster!

Yelp– The Yelp app helped us find nearby restaurants, gas stations, and hotels while traveling down south. This app is perfect when you aren’t sure what is around, so it made finding nearby locations in West Virginia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Florida a lot easier!

Movies– Whether from my built in car DVD player or my computer, watching movies keeps me entertained for hours. Movies make the trip go faster and gives me the perfect excuse to sing along to Frozen!

Music– Nothing beats driving to your favorite music, so update your playlists to jam out to your favorite tunes! Road trips always go faster when you can have a dance party to the best music.

Car Adapters– The radio always gets repetitive while listening to it for hours, so invest in a car adapter to be able to connect your phone to the car! Now you can listen to your favorite songs instead of the same ones on repeat.

Fuzzy Socks– As the passenger, I always take off my shoes during long drives. Bringing a pair of fuzzy socks to change into allows me to take off my uncomfortable shoes and be extra cozy!

Snacks– The worst is being hungry and not having a place to buy food. Stock up your car with your favorite snacks to guarantee you won’t be stuck starving. Snacking is my favorite, so I always make sure I have a variety of yummy treats!

Drinks– Along with snacks, it’s important to bring drinks on your long journeys! Make sure you pack water and caffeinated beverages so you stay awake during long drives. Try not to drink too much, however, so you don’t have to make too many stops!

Magazines– Bring an array of magazines to read throughout your drive. Road trips are the perfect opportunity to catch up on the latest trends and the latest gossip on your favorite celebrities!

Great Company– Most importantly, surround yourself with great company to keep you entertained throughout the trip. My mom is always the driver and I’m the passenger, so I try to entertain her whiles she’s behind the wheel. Having someone to laugh with truly makes a difference and time fly!

I hope these tips make your drive go faster and a little more entertaining! Happy driving!

Great post Maddy! I completely agree with everything you talked about. Especially the blanket and fuzzy socks. I hate being in the car for long periods of time so I try to make myself as comfortable and situated as possible, haha.
